A Journaling Journey of Transformation, Inspiration, and Purpose

There is something so special about the book form that serves as a vehicle for our shared human experience, and I am incredibly fortunate to connect with so many amazing people through these handmade books.

One such special person is Cate Levy, whose journey with Hypatia journals has been nothing short of inspiring!

Hi Cynthia!

My name is Cate Levy. I met you two years ago, right before I moved to Chile, and my life completely changed. I bought a journal from you as I was going through a heartbreak and anxious about my next adventure. I wrote in this journal nearly every day I was abroad, filling the insides with ticket stubs, business cards, notes from friends, recipes, and more. This journal has been a key source of joy, inspiration, and comfort these last two years.

I actually returned to Chile with the help of a research grant to write my thesis; and a lot of my thesis proposal stemmed from this journal!

Two years later, I met you again at the Artisans market, and my dad bought me a beautiful journal from you, which I plan to take with me on my next adventure. In a week, I will depart for a year of international travel funded by the Thomas J. Watson fellowship. I will be researching community responses to patriarchal violence and sexual discrimination, and I am so happy that I will have my new journal with me to process and commemorate this next adventure.
